Using Mutual Trust’s Secured Messaging System

In an effort to comply with federal regulations regarding the safeguarding of personal information, Mutual Trust Life Insurance Company uses a secured messaging system designed to protect email communication between our home office, policyholders, agents and vendor partners. This system works by scanning messages sent from our home office, and encrypting those that appear to contain sensitive information, such as policy numbers, credit card numbers and protected health information.

Messages sent from our home office that do not contain sensitive information will not be encrypted. However, those that do contain sensitive information will be, and their intended recipient will need to take an extra step to read them. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to view messages that have been encrypted.

Please Note: Mutual Trust's Help Desk does NOT have the ability to re-set passwords for the secured message feature. If you have forgotten your password, YOU MUST use the "Forgot Password" link to re-set it. For more information on how to re-set your password, click here.

Step 1
Recipients will know when a message has been encrypted, because they will receive a notice like the one to the right instructing them to open a secured attachment.

Step 2
After opening the secured attachment, recipients will be prompted to click a link to view the encrypted message.

Step 3
Recipients who receive an encrypted email for the first time will need to establish a new account by providing their name and creating a password. Recipients only need to perform this step the first time they receive an encrypted message.

After an account has been established, if a recipient receives an encrypted message, our system will recognize them and simply ask for their password.

If recipients forget their password, they can reset it by clicking the Forgot Password link located in the lower-left corner.
